Many first-time Binance users ask: can I just scan a QR code with Alipay or WeChat to deposit funds into Binance? The answer is: you can't deposit directly, but you can use them indirectly. Understanding this distinction is your first lesson.
Why Doesn't Binance Support Direct QR Code Deposits?
Binance is a global cryptocurrency exchange that doesn't hold a payment license to operate within China. Therefore, it cannot integrate Alipay or WeChat Pay's official payment channels the way platforms like Taobao or JD.com do.
Simply put: Binance doesn't have a "deposit account" for you to scan and transfer yuan into. It's a crypto asset trading platform, not a yuan savings account.
Alipay and WeChat Can Be Used in C2C Trading
Although you can't deposit directly, Alipay and WeChat are among the most popular payment methods in Binance C2C (P2P) trading.
Here's how it works:
- In the Binance C2C market, select a seller who accepts Alipay or WeChat payments
- The seller provides their Alipay account (or QR code)
- You transfer funds directly to the seller via the Alipay App (this is a person-to-person transfer, just like any regular transfer)
- After completing the transfer, confirm payment on the Binance page
- Once the seller verifies receipt, Binance automatically releases the cryptocurrency to your account
Throughout this process, Alipay/WeChat is simply a tool for you to transfer money to a private individual — not to the Binance platform. This is the essence of the C2C model — the platform only facilitates matching; funds flow directly between the two parties.
Tips for Using Alipay to Buy Crypto
Be careful with transfer notes: When transferring via Alipay, never write "buying crypto," "USDT," "Bitcoin," or any other sensitive terms in the memo field. Leave it blank or write "transfer" to avoid being flagged by Alipay's risk control system or causing account anomalies.
Save transfer screenshots: Immediately after completing payment, take a screenshot of the Alipay transfer success page. If a dispute arises later, this screenshot is your key evidence for filing an appeal.
Use a dedicated Alipay account: If you frequently use an Alipay account for C2C transactions, consider keeping it separate from your everyday spending account to reduce the chance of being flagged by the platform.
Keep individual amounts reasonable: Especially for beginners, keep your first Alipay purchase under 500-1,000 yuan. Run through the process first, confirm everything works, then gradually increase the amount.
WeChat Pay Works Similarly to Alipay
WeChat Pay is also a common payment method accepted by C2C merchants. The process is the same: select a seller, get their WeChat QR code or WeChat ID, transfer funds, confirm payment, and wait for coin release. The same precautions about transfer notes apply, and you should still save screenshots.
Currently, Alipay is more widely used than WeChat in the C2C crypto buying scenario, with more merchants to choose from and typically more competitive pricing.
If you don't have a Binance account yet, register on Binance first and complete identity verification, then download the Binance App. Operating C2C through the App is more convenient and the interface is smoother than the web version.
