After buying USDT through P2P, the next thing many people want to do is swap it for BTC. There are two main ways to do this on Binance, each suited for different situations.
Method 1: Spot Trading (Recommended)
This is the standard approach — lowest fees and the most transparent pricing.
- Open the Binance App and tap Trade > Spot
- Search for the BTC/USDT trading pair
- Select the Buy direction
- Choose Market for instant execution, or Limit to specify a price
- Enter the amount of USDT you want to spend
- Tap Buy BTC and confirm
A market order fills within seconds, and the BTC will appear in your spot wallet. The fee is 0.1% of the trade value, which drops to 0.075% if you pay with BNB.
Method 2: Convert (Quick Swap)
Convert is Binance's one-tap exchange feature — simpler to use and perfect for those who don't want to deal with the trading interface.
- Find Convert on the Binance App's home screen or in the menu
- Select USDT in the "From" field and BTC in the "To" field
- Enter the amount of USDT you want to exchange
- The system will give you a live quote, valid for about 5–10 seconds
- Confirm the swap and the BTC arrives instantly
The Convert interface is very clean — no candlestick charts or order books. It feels like exchanging foreign currency in a banking app.
Which Method Is More Cost-Effective
Spot trading charges a clear 0.1% fee (or less), with fully transparent pricing.
Convert doesn't charge an explicit fee, but the quoted price includes a spread, typically between 0.1% and 0.5%. For small amounts (a few dozen to a few hundred USDT), the difference is minimal. The larger the amount, the more noticeable the cost advantage of spot trading becomes.
In short:
- Small amounts, want convenience → use Convert
- Large amounts, want to save money → use spot trading
- Want to set a specific buy price → only spot trading's limit order can do that
Make Sure Your USDT Is in the Right Account
If you bought USDT through P2P, it might be in your Funding Account. Spot trading requires USDT in your Spot Account, so you'll need to transfer it first: go to Wallet > Funding Account > USDT > Transfer > move to Spot Account. Transfers are free and instant.
Convert doesn't have this restriction — you can swap directly from the Funding Account. If you don't have a Binance account yet, click here to sign up and start trading once you've completed verification.
