Binance Convert vs C2C: What's the Difference

· About 7 min

When exchanging cryptocurrency on Binance, you may come across two features: Convert and C2C (P2P). Many beginners can't tell them apart, or don't even realize which one they're using. In reality, they address completely different needs.

What Is Convert?

Convert is Binance's "one-click swap" feature, used for quick exchanges between cryptocurrencies, such as:

  • BTC to USDT
  • ETH to BNB
  • USDT to SOL

Its standout feature is extreme simplicity — enter an amount, the system quotes a price, click confirm, and the swap completes in seconds. No need to read charts, place limit orders, or wait for matching — perfect for beginners who don't understand trading mechanics.

Convert fees are embedded in the price spread (typically 0.1%-0.5% above the mid-market price). There's no separately displayed fee, but the price is slightly less favorable than executing directly on the spot market.

What Is C2C (P2P)?

C2C/P2P is peer-to-peer trading between cryptocurrency and fiat currency (such as CNY). It solves a completely different problem: how to convert CNY into USDT, or convert USDT back to CNY.

The C2C trading process involves: selecting a merchant, placing an order, transferring CNY, and waiting for coin release. The entire process takes 10-30 minutes and involves some operational complexity, but fees are extremely low (Binance doesn't charge any C2C trading fees).

Key Differences at a Glance

Comparison Convert C2C/P2P
Direction Crypto to Crypto Fiat to Crypto
Complexity Ultra-simple, seconds to complete More involved, requires bank transfer coordination
Fees Included in spread, slightly higher Platform charges no fee, prices are market-competitive
Use Case Portfolio rebalancing, small swaps Depositing and withdrawing fiat
Counterparty Binance system auto-matches Real individual users
Risk Virtually no additional risk Requires awareness of scams and bank card risks

When to Use Convert

  • You already have crypto assets on Binance (like USDT) and want to swap into another coin (like BTC or ETH)
  • You don't want to learn charts or the spot trading interface — you just want it quick and simple
  • The swap amount is relatively small (tens to thousands of dollars), where the spread impact is minimal

When to Use C2C

  • You have CNY and want to buy USDT or other crypto (depositing)
  • You want to convert crypto back to CNY (withdrawing)
  • You're price-conscious and want to trade as close to market price as possible

Can Convert Exchange CNY Directly?

No. Convert doesn't involve fiat currency (CNY) — it only operates between cryptocurrencies. If you want to convert USDT to CNY, you must go through the C2C sell process.

A simple summary: C2C handles "money in, money out"; Convert handles "coin to coin." Using both together covers the vast majority of a regular user's trading needs.

Beginners can register on Binance first and explore both features in the App firsthand. Try them side by side, and you'll quickly understand when to use which.
