How to Appeal a Frozen Binance Account

· About 6 min

Why Accounts Get Frozen

Binance doesn't freeze accounts without reason. Here are the most common causes: KYC identity verification information is inconsistent or has expired and needs updating; the system detected unusual login activity and triggered a security lock; a C2C trade involved flagged funds, leading to a judicial freeze; too many incorrect password or verification code attempts triggered a temporary lock; wash trading or other violations were flagged by the risk control system.

Identifying the specific reason is important because different causes require different appeal methods and have different resolution timelines.

How to Submit an Appeal

Open the Binance App or website and tap the support icon in the bottom-right corner to access live chat. Select "Account Issues" → "Account Frozen," and the system will ask you to fill out a form describing your situation and upload supporting documents. If you can't log into the App, you can go directly to the Binance website's support page and submit a ticket using your registered email.

What Documents to Prepare

Depending on the type of freeze, you'll typically need the following: photos of both sides of your ID, a selfie holding your ID along with a handwritten note showing today's date, the email address and phone number used during registration, and your account UID (found on the App homepage or in your profile). For judicial freezes, support may also ask you to provide proof of the source of your funds.

How Long Does It Take

Simple security freezes (such as temporary locks from too many incorrect password attempts) are usually lifted automatically within 24 hours. Freezes caused by KYC issues typically take 3–5 business days after submitting your documents. Cases involving risk control reviews have variable timelines and may take 1–4 weeks. Judicial freezes are the most complex — they can only be lifted after law enforcement completes their process, and the timeline can be quite long.

How to Avoid Getting Frozen

Complete KYC with your real identity — don't register using someone else's documents. In C2C trading, avoid accepting funds from unknown sources. Don't frequently switch login devices and IP addresses. Avoid making frequent transfers between multiple accounts. If you don't have a Binance account yet, use your real information when you sign up for Binance to prevent identity issues from the start.
