The Reality for Mainland China Users
Binance cannot be accessed directly from mainland China — that's simply the reality. Before you can register, you'll need to solve the network access issue first. Without a network tool, you won't be able to open the Binance website on a mainland Chinese internet connection.
Additionally, Binance stopped serving mainland China users starting in 2021, which means you cannot select "China" as your region of residence during registration. However, this doesn't mean you can't use Binance at all — you just need to select a different region when registering and prepare the corresponding identity documents for that region.
Preparing Network Access
Accessing Binance requires a proxy tool (commonly known as a VPN or circumvention tool). Choose a stable one that allows you to browse the web smoothly. It's recommended to keep the connection active throughout the entire registration process, as disconnecting midway may cause verification codes to expire.
When selecting a server node, Southeast Asian or Hong Kong nodes (such as Singapore or Hong Kong) are recommended — they offer faster speeds and more stability than European or American nodes. Note: after registration, you'll also need the proxy tool to access Binance on a daily basis.
How to Fill in Region and Phone Number
This is where most mainland China users get stuck.
Region of Residence: You cannot select mainland China. Many users choose Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, or Singapore. Your chosen region should ideally match the identity documents you plan to use for KYC verification. If you have a Hong Kong-Macau Travel Permit or a foreign passport, selecting the corresponding region will make things smoother.
Phone Number: A mainland China phone number (+86) can be used to receive verification codes — it's accepted during initial registration. However, some features (such as fiat trading) may be restricted. If possible, using an overseas phone number (such as a Hong Kong number) will make subsequent operations more convenient.
Email registration is the more universal choice since it avoids phone number region issues — it's the recommended method. Enter the registration page through this link: Register a Binance Account, and you'll also receive a fee discount.
How to Handle KYC Identity Verification
KYC is another critical hurdle for mainland China users. If you selected Hong Kong as your region, you'll need a Hong Kong-Macau Resident ID card or passport to pass verification. If you chose another country, you'll need documents from that country.
Using a mainland China ID card for KYC can technically still pass in some cases, but the official policy doesn't support it, and there's a risk to your account. It's recommended to use a passport for KYC verification — a passport is an internationally recognized document that Chinese citizens can legally hold, and it can normally be submitted for review under most region settings.
Tips for After Registration
After completing registration, avoid storing large amounts of assets in your account. Develop the habit of regularly withdrawing to your own wallet to reduce risk. Also, always use Binance under a stable proxy connection to avoid triggering account security checks due to IP anomalies.
If you prefer using your phone, you can download the Binance App and use it with the proxy tool enabled: Download Binance App. The App provides a smoother trading experience compared to the web version.
