What Is Binance KYC and Why Is It Required
KYC stands for "Know Your Customer" — a compliance requirement that all regulated financial platforms worldwide must follow. Binance requires users to complete identity verification to unlock higher withdrawal limits, fiat trading, futures trading, and other core features.
Accounts that haven't completed KYC have extremely low daily withdrawal limits (around 0.06 BTC equivalent), making the platform essentially unusable. So after registration, completing KYC should be your top priority.
Binance KYC Verification Levels
Binance divides identity verification into several levels:
Basic Verification (Verified): Requires submitting personal information and ID document photos. Once completed, your daily withdrawal limit increases significantly, and you can access most trading features. This is the level most regular users need to reach.
Advanced Verification (Advanced Verified): On top of basic verification, this requires facial recognition or liveness detection, and sometimes proof of address. Passing this level unlocks even higher withdrawal limits and fiat OTC features.
For most users, completing basic verification is sufficient for everyday use.
Documents You Need to Prepare
Binance accepts the following types of identity documents:
ID Card: You need to provide clear photos of both the front and back. The name, ID number, and expiration date must be fully legible.
Passport: Just one photo of the main information page is needed. Passports are the most recommended choice — they're accepted under almost all region settings and have the highest recognition success rate.
Driver's License: Some countries and regions allow driver's licenses for verification — front and back photos are required.
Regardless of which document you choose, photo requirements are: clear image, no blur, no glare, all four corners visible without cropping, and all information fully readable. Take photos in a well-lit environment, place the document flat, and avoid holding it by hand to prevent tilting and blur.
How Facial Recognition Works
After submitting your document photos, the system will typically ask you to complete a real-time facial recognition check to verify that you are the person on the document. This step requires:
- Facing the camera directly
- Following on-screen prompts to perform simple actions like blinking or turning your head
- Good lighting, avoiding backlight
Facial recognition works better on a phone than on a computer, as phone cameras generally produce better results. If the computer webcam fails, switch to your phone.
Common Reasons for Rejection
KYC is typically rejected for the following reasons:
Unqualified photos: Blurry, reflective, obstructed, or corners cut off. Retake clear photos and resubmit.
Document doesn't match the registered region: For example, if you selected Malaysia during registration but submitted a Chinese ID card, the system will reject it. Your document must match your selected region.
Expired document: Make sure the document you submit is still within its validity period.
Name mismatch: If the name you entered during registration doesn't exactly match the name on your document, it will also be rejected.
Review typically takes anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours. If you haven't received a result after 48 hours, contact customer support to check the status.
