How to Tell If Your Binance App Is the Official Version

· About 6 min

How Dangerous Are Fake Apps

Counterfeit Binance apps look nearly identical to the real thing on the surface, but their backend is entirely controlled by scammers. Any account credentials you enter in a fake app are recorded, and any assets you deposit go to the scammer's wallet instead of your actual Binance account. Some fake apps even display fabricated balances and transaction records, making everything appear normal until you try to withdraw — only then do you realize you've been scammed.

Official Download Channels

iPhone users should search for "Binance" directly in the App Store and look for the one with "Binance Inc." as the developer. Android users can download from Google Play, again verifying the official developer. If you're in mainland China without access to Google Play, the safest option is to download the APK directly from the Binance website: download Binance App. Never download from third-party app stores, cloud storage links, or links shared in QQ groups or Telegram groups.

Use Binance Verify to Check Your Download Source

If you're unsure whether your download source is legitimate, visit verify.binance.com and enter the domain of the download link to see if it's officially certified by Binance. Any download address not on the official list should not be trusted.

How Android Users Can Check Package Name and Certificate

After installing the Binance App on Android, go to Settings → App Management, find the Binance app, and view its details. The official Binance App's package name is "com.binance.dev." If the package name is anything else, the app is fake — uninstall it immediately. You can also check the signing certificate information through the app details to ensure the developer signature matches the official one.

Common Signs of a Fake App

The following red flags suggest you may have downloaded a fake app: it requests excessive phone permissions during installation (such as access to contacts or SMS content); the app icon or interface details have subtle differences from the official version (color variations, different fonts); you're asked to enter seed phrases or private keys after logging in; there's no 2FA verification process — you can just log in and operate directly. If you notice any of these, uninstall immediately. If you've already entered your password, go to the Binance website right away to change your password and review your security settings.
