How to Use the Binance Web3 Wallet

· About 7 min

Binance has built a Web3 wallet right into its App, so you don't need to install MetaMask separately to interact with on-chain DApps. For users who want to try DeFi but find MetaMask's setup too complicated, this is a great entry point.

What Is the Binance Web3 Wallet

Think of it simply: the Binance App now has two "wallets" —

  • Exchange wallet: The account you normally use to buy and sell crypto — assets are custodied by Binance
  • Web3 wallet: A self-custodial on-chain wallet where you control the private keys

The Web3 wallet lets you connect to various decentralized applications (DApps) directly from the Binance App — Uniswap, PancakeSwap, Aave, and more — without switching to another app.

How to Create a Web3 Wallet

  1. Open the Binance App (make sure it's the latest version). Download the Binance App to get the latest version
  2. Find the "Web3" tab in the bottom navigation bar
  3. Tap "Create Wallet"
  4. The system will generate a seed phrase — write it down by hand and store it somewhere safe
  5. Confirm the seed phrase and your wallet is ready

Setup takes just a minute or two. The seed phrase is your only recovery credential — if you lose it, the assets in the wallet cannot be recovered. This is fundamentally different from your exchange account.

Supported Blockchains

The Binance Web3 wallet supports multiple mainstream networks:

  • BNB Chain (BSC): Binance's own chain with low fees
  • Ethereum: The richest ecosystem for DeFi and NFTs
  • Polygon: An Ethereum sidechain with extremely low gas fees
  • Arbitrum / Optimism: Ethereum Layer 2 solutions — fast and affordable
  • Solana, Avalanche, and more are also supported

Switch networks at the top of the wallet page — the logic is similar to MetaMask's network switching.

Browsing and Using DApps

The Web3 wallet page has a "Discover" section showcasing popular DApp categories: DEX trading, lending, NFT marketplaces, cross-chain bridges, and more. Tap to enter and connect through the Binance Web3 wallet.

You can also visit a DApp directly by entering its URL. Every transaction you make through a DApp will trigger a confirmation popup in the wallet, letting you review the interaction details and gas fee before deciding whether to sign.

Self-Custody vs. Exchange Custody

This is the most important distinction:

Assets in the Web3 wallet are entirely your responsibility. Losing your seed phrase, signing a malicious contract, sending to a wrong address — Binance cannot help you recover from any of these.

Assets in the exchange account are custodied by Binance. If you forget your password, customer support can help you reset it. If your account is compromised, the SAFU fund provides protection.

For beginners, it's best to start with a small amount of funds in the Web3 wallet to learn the ropes. Once you're comfortable with on-chain interactions, you can add more. For larger holdings, keeping them in the exchange account is safer.
