What Triggers Risk Control
Binance's risk control system may restrict account functions in the following situations: frequently switching login devices or IP addresses in a short period; large withdrawals that deviate significantly from historical patterns; C2C trades linked to flagged bank accounts or payment channels; KYC information that doesn't match trading behavior (e.g., a low-tier KYC user suddenly making large transactions); suspected market manipulation such as wash trading.
Risk control restrictions don't always mean a full account freeze — they may only limit withdrawals or certain trading functions, with severity varying by case.
Identity Re-Verification
The first step in lifting most risk control restrictions is completing identity re-verification. After logging into Binance, the system will usually display a banner at the top of the page guiding you through the verification process. This typically involves re-uploading photos of your ID documents and completing live facial recognition. Make sure your photos are clear, your documents are within their validity period, and that you have good lighting with no obstructions during facial recognition.
How to Complete Address Verification
Some risk control scenarios require you to submit proof of address documents. Acceptable documents include: bank statements, utility bills, or credit card statements from within the last three months, showing your name and residential address. Documents can be photographed paper copies or PDF screenshots of electronic versions, but they must be clear and legible.
The Right Way to Submit an Appeal
If the system doesn't automatically guide you through verification, you can submit an appeal through the in-app live chat. Describe the specific restriction you're facing (unable to withdraw, unable to trade, etc.), and support will tell you what steps to complete. Including your UID, registered email, and screenshots of the restriction when submitting a ticket will speed up the process.
Processing Time and Things to Note
After passing identity re-verification, restrictions are typically lifted within 24–72 hours. Risk control cases involving fund investigations take longer and may require one to two weeks. While waiting, don't repeatedly submit tickets to rush the process — this won't speed things up and may actually slow down handling. If your account hasn't been affected by risk control yet, it's a good idea to set up security proactively. After you sign up for Binance, complete your KYC and security verification, use your account normally, and you'll rarely encounter risk control issues.
